Amazon adding 1,000 jobs at Kentucky fulfillment centers
Seattle-based Amazon announced it will add 1,000 jobs at its Kentucky fulfillment centers in Shepherdsville, Campbellsville, Hebron and Lexington. The company currently employs more than 10,000 in Kentucky. 
 
After economic incentive approval, GKN Driveline to create 302 jobs in North Carolina
The auto parts manufacturer will expand four of its plants after North Carolina economic development leaders approved $3 million in incentives over the next several years. The company plans to invest $179 million at plants in Alamance, Catawba, Lee and Person counties.
 
Oil and gas jobs see first gains in over two years
Labor Department data shows that in November of 2016, jobs linked to the oil and gas sector rose for the first monthly gain in over two years. Employment rose in the sector by 3,300 for the month. Total jobs in the oil and gas sector now are at 384,300 compared to over 530,000 two years ago. Over 500,000 jobs have been lost globally in the oil and gas industry in the past two years. 
 
Right-to-work passed in Kentucky
Kentucky adopted right-to-work legislation in the winter quarter. The measure gives workers the choice to not pay union dues or fees as a condition of employment. Kentucky became the 27th right-to-work state. . .now all states in the South are right-to-work except for Missouri. Missouri is also expected to pass the measure soon.  
 
Carbon Cycle Energy building $100 million biogas plant in North Carolina
Located near Warsaw, N.C., the plant will produce biogas for energy and transportation fuel by utilizing anaerobic digestion of animal and food waste. The facilities will be the largest in the U.S. 
 
Bosch expanding North Carolina plant
The German engineering and electronics company will make a $13.3 million investment in new equipment and machinery for its Robert Bosch Tool Corp’s facility in Lincolnton, N.C. The investment will include the addition of more than 50 jobs. 
 
Blue Ridge Aquaculture expands in Virginia
The largest tilapia aquaculture operation in the world is expanding with an investment of $3.2 million at its facilities in Henry County, Va. The project will create five new jobs. 
 
Jones Plastic expanding in Tennessee
The plastic injection mold manufacturer will invest $4.5 million in its facility in Camden, Tenn. The company plans to hire 52 new workers.
 
Navy Federal adding 1,400 jobs in Virginia
Virginia-based Navy Federal Credit Union is investing $100 million in its support and service operations in Winchester, Va. The project will create 1,400 new jobs. 
 
German company expanding in Georgia
Zschimmer & Schwartz, a Germany-based chemical company with facilities in Milledgeville, Ga., is expanding into Gordon, Ga. The company will build a $50 million facility and hire 75 workers in the deal. 
 
Bridgestone investing $180 million in North Carolina operation
In 2015, Tennessee-based Bridgestone invested $164 million in its facility in Wilson, N.C. The company announced in the winter quarter it is investing $180 million more in the facility, however, only 16 jobs will be added.   
 
German auto supplier invests in North Carolina
Kaco USA, a Germany-based manufacturer of sealing solutions for the automotive industry, will expand its facility in Lincolnton, N.C. The company is investing $8.4 million and adding 100 workers in the deal. 
 
Linde Group building plant in rural Georgia
The Linde Group, an industrial gas manufacturer, will invest $40 million in a new plant in Adel, Ga. The new large-scale air separation facility will supplement other facilities in Cartersville, Ga., and Aiken, S.C. The deal will create 35 jobs. 
 
Tyson expanding Kentucky plant
Tyson Chicken is expanding its poultry plant in Henderson County, Ky. The $13.5 million project will create 66 jobs. 
 
Utility-scale solar farms set for South Carolina
Two large solar farms will be built in Orangeburg, S.C., by the National Renewable Energy Corporation. The project calls for an $89.1 million investment. 
 
Daniel Defense breaks ground in Georgia
The arms manufacturer is starting construction on a $29.5 million expansion of its corporate offices in Black Creek, Ga. The project is expected to bring 75 new jobs.
 
American Marksman invests $35 million in ammo manufacturing facility
The commercial ammunition provider plans to renovate 336,000 square feet at its Lake City Ammunition Plant in Missouri. The Omaha based company will create 400 jobs. 
 
Kubota begins expansion in Georgia
The construction equipment manufacturer has begun a $16-million-dollar expansion in its distribution center in Jefferson, Ga., to meet growing consumer demand. 
 
Leading boat seat manufacturer to create 74 new jobs in Tennessee
The Wise Company announced it will hire 74 new employees and expand its current facility in Savannah, Tenn. 
 
Atkinson Candy Company expanding in Texas
The business, located in Lufkin, Texas is investing $5 million in additional facility space.
 
Major carpet manufacturer completes new plant in Georgia
Shaw Industries Group has completed construction of its new carpet tile manufacturing plant in Adairsville, Ga. The new $85 million facility will accommodate 500 new jobs.
 
Wink Equipment will create 50 jobs in Kentucky
The aluminum trailer manufacturer will invest $1.55 million in operations in Dawson Springs. The 69,000-square-foot facility will manufacture 400 to 600 aluminum side dump trailers a year.
 
Pin Oak Holdings closes on a $100 million investment in Louisiana 
A petroleum and chemical storage terminal is being built in St. John Parish and will be operational by June of 2017.
 
Everest Textiles USA opening new manufacturing plant in North Carolina
The Taiwan-based sports apparel maker will add 610 new jobs in Rutherford County. The company, which supplies Nike, Columbia and Patagonia, will invest $18.5 million in the plant with a $3 million tax incentive.
 
Skylight and window manufacturer expands in South Carolina
Velux, a leading roof window maker, is expanding with a $4 million investment and an additional 21 new jobs in Greenwood County, S.C.
 
Novatech to bring jobs to Virginia
The door and door glass manufacturer will invest $3 million to build a new facility in Henry County, Va., that will employ 50 people.
 
ProBrass investing in South Carolina
The manufacturer of rifle brass cartridge cases is establishing itself in Clarendon County. The start-up firm will invest $40 million in the new facility, creating over 70 new jobs.
 
R+L Carriers investing in South Carolina
The global logistics and shipping company will hire 25 new employees and invest $7 million in expanding operations in Yemassee, S.C.
 
Flooring company Unilin expands, hires in North Carolina
The Mohawk-owned company will invest $36 million in its facility in Thomasville, N.C., and add 50 new employees.
 
Immigration and Customs Enforcement to bring jobs to Folkston, Ga.
The government agency will hire 200-plus workers after opening a privately run detention center in Folkston.
 
Sparks Custom Fabrication grows manufacturing plant in Tennessee
